Therapy - for who you were, who you are, and who you’re becoming.

Who we are

My name is Andrea San Pedro-Lunn. I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with children, adolescents, and adults. For many years, I have practised in private settings and various educational environments — from infant and junior schools in the most deprived areas of London to academies — supporting children as young as five to young adults facing the challenges of adolescence and early adulthood.

I first came to therapy not through textbooks, but through life.

Years ago, I sat down to write a letter to my estranged father — one I’d never send — laying to rest years of pain, confusion, and unanswered questions. That moment, born of grief and clarity, marked a turning point. It opened up something deeper: a desire to understand what shapes us, wounds us, and ultimately helps us heal.

I studied English Literature and Journalism, and spent 20 years working in the media — creating headline-grabbing campaigns for tech companies, entrepreneurs, global brands, and social enterprises. I have ghostwritten op-eds for a variety of publications, including The Independent, FT, Fast Company, and Forbes. I mentored aspiring publicists and women in business who felt stuck in their careers. Despite the success, I felt something was missing. You might say that I had an existential wobble — a moment of reckoning with the work I was doing and the life I was building. I realised I wanted my time and energy to go toward something that felt real, human, and useful — not through grand gestures, but in the quiet, lasting impact it could have on individual lives.

Therapy once helped me through some of the hardest chapters of my life: growing up in poverty, navigating loss, facing identity struggles, and processing intergenerational trauma. It gave me language, agency, and a way forward. Now, I want to offer that same space to others.

Having grown up on the margins, I understand what it’s like to feel unseen, unheard, or on the outside looking in. That lived experience shapes the way I listen — with empathy for those who have had to navigate the world in ways that weren’t always met with understanding or compassion. This experience has enabled me to connect with people from all walks of life, especially those carrying stories that haven’t always found a safe place to land. I hope to offer that space: one that is steady, attuned, and free from judgment — where your inner world, in all its depth and complexity, can be met with sensitivity, curiosity, and compassion.

Above all, I provide a calm, confidential space where you can be fully seen and thoughtfully supported — whether you’re working through the past, facing present challenges, or seeking a clearer way forward. I am especially aware of how shame can keep us silent or stuck, and I work mindfully to create an environment where these difficult feelings can be explored without fear of judgment. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and tailored to meet you wherever you are in your journey.

Is therapy right for me?

You might be wondering if therapy actually works — or if it’s just a load of self-indulgent talking that doesn’t really lead anywhere. That’s a fair question. For many of us, especially those shaped by certain cultural or religious values, the idea of therapy can feel unfamiliar — even unnecessary. You may have been taught to keep things private, to pray through pain, to carry on quietly, or to believe that seeking help means something is broken.

But therapy isn’t about weakness or self-obsession. It’s about making space — sometimes for the first time — to explore how past experiences, unspoken expectations, or inherited beliefs may still be shaping how you feel and function today.

Often, the struggles we face as adults — anxiety, shame, people-pleasing, burnout, disconnection — have roots in early emotional wounds we were never able to name, let alone process. Working with someone trained in child and adolescent development can help uncover and gently address those early patterns — the ones formed long before we even had the words to describe what was happening. Because even if those experiences are behind us, the feelings they left behind often aren’t. Therapy helps you lay those things down, examine them gently, and begin to loosen their grip on what no longer serves us.

And if you’ve found your way here, there may be a part of you — however small — that’s ready to feel differently.

Therapy: what to expect

Taking the first step can feel daunting — so I offer a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation online. It’s a chance for us to meet, talk about what’s going on for you, and explore how therapy might help. Most importantly, it’s a space for you to decide if I feel like the right fit for you. Like dating, the relationship matters — and in therapy, it’s everything. Real progress comes from a sense of trust, safety, and connection.

In our initial meeting, we’ll identify what’s bringing you to therapy and begin to shape what support might look like. Therapy isn’t a quick fix. It’s an ongoing, deeply personal commitment to understanding yourself more fully and learning how to live with more ease, clarity, and self-acceptance.

I usually recommend starting with at least 12 weekly sessions, but this is not a rigid rule — it’s a starting point. Sessions last 50 minutes and are typically held at the same time and place each week. That regular rhythm becomes a kind of anchor — a safe, consistent space in a world that rarely stands still.

Everything shared in therapy is confidential. And the space we create together is yours — held with care, curiosity, and no judgment.

My approach is integrative — meaning I draw from a range of therapeutic styles to support you in a way that feels personal and grounded. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. It’s shaped by you — your pace, your story, your needs.

🧠 Psychodynamic Approach

We explore how your early experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may still be influencing how you think, feel, and relate today.

🫶 Humanistic Approach

I hold the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, seen, and supported as you make sense of your inner world.

🎨 Creative Exploration

When words are hard to find, we might use imagery, objects, writing, or metaphor to express what feels hidden. This isn’t about being artistic — it’s about finding new ways to reflect and process.

This flexible and collaborative approach allows us to work in a way that’s authentic, adaptive, and deeply human — free from rigid models, and always centred on what matters to you.

Adult Counselling
£60.00

Sometimes it’s hard to put feelings into words — especially when you’ve been carrying them for a long time. In our sessions, we’ll work together to gently explore whatever’s going on for you, whether it’s linked to the past, something in the present, or a quiet sense that things just don’t feel right.

We won’t just talk — though talking is important. We might use creative tools like images, objects, writing or other simple activities to help you express what feels harder to say out loud. It’s not about being artistic — it’s about creating space to reflect, notice, and understand yourself more deeply.

This is a space to go at your own pace. To make sense of things. To feel supported as you work towards clarity, healing, or simply feeling more like yourself again.

Child & Adolescent Counselling
£60.00

Children don’t always say when something’s wrong — but they often show it. Big emotions, sudden changes in behaviour, or a sense that something’s “off” can all be signs that a child is struggling to process something they don’t yet have the words for.

In this space, I work carefully and thoughtfully with children and young people using play, creativity, and conversation to help them express what they may not be able to explain directly. This approach isn’t just about having fun — it’s a clinically informed way to access deeper feelings, support emotional development, and build resilience.

Progress in therapy isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes it looks like small shifts, quiet breakthroughs, or moments of connection that build over time. But with consistency, patience, and the right support, children can begin to understand themselves better, feel more secure, and gain tools to navigate their world with greater confidence.

Testimonials

  • "A lifeline for our child"

Andrea has been a lifeline for our child. They were struggling to express and understand the emotions they were feeling alongside anxiety over separation and sensory challenges. Struggles with leaving the house, attending school and any social scenarios had lead to our child finding everyday life an almost insurmountable struggle. Throughout her therapeutic work Andrea has helped our child build confidence and emotional literacy through empathy and understanding and by holding a weekly safe place for them to explore our child’s feelings and fears through play. Our child still uses tools and techniques that Andrea has taught them which helps them navigate the challenges of an NT world as an ND child. We 100% recommend her support and services.

  • "I learned to stop blaming myself"

When I first started therapy, I blamed myself for everything — the things that happened to me, the things that didn’t go right, even things that weren’t mine to carry. Over time, I’ve started to let go of that weight. I’m learning to set boundaries, trust myself more, and actually believe that my life can be different; that I have more power over my life than I originally thought.
